With the pace of today’s living everybody needs a little help coping every once in a while. This is especially true when it when it comes to emotional changes experienced by children and teenagers and the families that they are part of. At Mars & Venus our Wyckoff family therapist has a great deal of experience and training helping young clients deal with emotional situations, the tribulations of growing and forming relationships. We also help the whole family support the teen or child or cope with problems arising in the family.
During childhood and the teen years young people can experience uneasiness, depression, problems forming and sustaining social relationships, exhibiting behavioral problems at home or school and suffering from low self-esteem. Childhood and adolescence are times when many children are especially vulnerable and seeking approval from both family members and peers. The teenage years can be particularly hard on family relationships when teens are trying to find out about the world, expressing themselves and their freedom while responding to surging hormones. Our Wyckoff family therapist generally recommends individual counseling for the young client. While progress is being made during individual counseling our therapist will endeavor to facilitate better communications between the parents and the child.
Working with our Wyckoff family therapist, you’ll examine your family’s ability to solve problems and express thoughts and emotions. You may explore family roles, rules and behavior patterns in order to identify issues that contribute to conflict, as well as ways to work through these issues. Family therapy may help you identify your family’s strengths, such as caring for one another, and weaknesses, such as difficulty confiding in one another. Family therapy can include all the members of the family or just those that are involved in the immediate situation. If your child is exhibiting problems or there is a lack of effective communications in your home please call our office for an appointment.
